Here a few examples of CDM projects:

Renewable energy sources like wind farms are used for electricity generation replacing power plants running on fossil fuels.

Waste Management
Landfills emit methane. Methane is burned to generate electricity using a gas capture system

Oil Extraction
Gas is a by-product of oil extraction. In general it is burned on site, thus generating carbon emissions. Using a gas pipeline and a compressor plant the gas is converted into dry gas (mostly CH4) and LPG (propane and butane).

The storage and disposal of animal waste causes emissions of methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O). These can be fermented in biogas plants creating gas that is used to generate electricity.

Processing agricultural products generates waste like rice hulls. This biomass can be burned to generate electricity.

Manufacturing industries
Many factories use fossil fuels such as natural gas and crude oil. Replacing these wholly or partly with alternative, renewable fuels such as biomass and vegetable oil can prevent carbon emissions.

Chemical Industry
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is an unwanted side effect in the manufacturing of different products and usually is expelled into the atmosphere. The formation of N2O can be reduced if a catalyst is used.
